A Pop Culture Afternoon at UCSF

I hope I didn't wear Brenda out today, cuz I spent all afternoon and early evening with her. Phil also joined the party and the three of us had a very productive afternoon watching trash TV, reading trashy magazines and having a discussion on why TomKat's baby hasn't been shown to the public yet. I hope Brenda' white blood cells were generating during our scintillating conversations about Brittany & K-Fed and Nick & Jessica. However, the highlight was locating Guy Goma ("the wrong guy") who was interviewed by BBC about the Apple court case. Now Guy even has his own website--- Guy Goma

It was simply a delightful afternoon and Brenda seemed so much stronger than earlier this week! Her temperature is back to normal and her spirits have improved. Unfortunately, Brenda's appetite is still nil, except for trail mix, apple juice and ice cream. However, when the nurse brought her dinner, the main course was eaten---check out Phil's Blog for details.

I hope Brenda's blood counts will be high enough for her to go home next week.

Faster than a Speeding Bullet!

Event: Pleasant Hill Firecracker 5K
Time: 38:47
Pace: 12:31

This was a "blistering" pace for me! I ran the same event last year and my official time was 45:41 with a pace of 14:42. Plus I ran the entire way this year versus runnning/walking last year. The first mile is always hard for me, but by the last mile, I really got a good breathing/running rythem going and actually could've run a couple more miles. What a difference one year makes. Maybe a 10 minute mile next year??

A few TNT'ers were also running---some ahead of me, and yes, there were some behind me. Of course, Lindsay and her dad blazed trails way ahead of me. This is a fun 5K because its in my 'hood, plus the little kids' 100 yard dash is cute to watch. It's great to see the kids out there running. Happy 4th Everyone!
