Okay, I've completed a full marathon in 2005 and hiked the rim of the Grand Canyon in May of 2006, so now what? Well, its no rest for the weary...so I'm back on Team in Training's run team this summer. But I'm no fool, I'm training for a 1/2 marathon this time.

8.5 Minute Mile?! Me?!

Okay, I couldn't help myself...I just had to add another Blue Angels photo. I promise, no more until next October.

If I calculated correctly, I think I ran an 8.5 minute mile for yesterday's 4.7 mile run in Heather Farms. If this is indeed true, its the fastest I've moved without motorized assistance (ie. car, Segway etc). I know this isn't my marathon pace, but it felt good to break my usual pace of 13-14 minutes/mile. I felt like Carl Lewis!

In addition to "Running like a Girl", I also been "training like a Russian". For a few months, my trainer, Scott, had me working with the kettlebell (see photo) into my weight training regimen. Evidently, this was the workout of choice of the former Soviet Army. The current issue of Newsweek has a little side bar about kettlebell training and how hip its become. Wow, for once I'm a little ahead of a trend! Soooo hip it hurts.....
