Okay, I've completed a full marathon in 2005 and hiked the rim of the Grand Canyon in May of 2006, so now what? Well, its no rest for the weary...so I'm back on Team in Training's run team this summer. But I'm no fool, I'm training for a 1/2 marathon this time.

No More Burritos Before the Track Workout

Boy did I feel sluggish at track tonight. I blame it on the chicken burrito I had at 3:00. Track wasn't until 6:30, so I'd thought that "stuffed" feeling would go away by then. I was wrong! Fortunately, I didn't spew, but I felt the weight of that burrito as I ran two miles. Coach Al had us estimate our time for completing two miles. I figured I would finish in 26 minutes (13 min/mile pace sounds doable, right?) Nope, I finished in 28 minutes, 39 seconds and I blame it on the burrito---that's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Cool August Nights

Believe it or not, but I wore a sweatshirt this weekend and uttered the words, "Its a bit chilly". Lori and I took a long weekend jaunt to Santa Barbara this weekend and enjoyed the beach, moderate weather and the beauty of the area. The last time I was in SB was in 1989, with my car full of my personal belongings making my escape from LA to begin a new life in the Bay Area. What a difference 17 years makes. I left LA without a job or housing lined up, taking a gamble that things would turn out for the best. Needless to say they have...

Just out of curiousity, we asked at the Biltmore if they take dogs and they do! However, you have to reserve a "cottage" for $720/night...at that rate, the doggies stay home and the mamas stay at the Holiday Inn Express. But we fell in love with Montecito and can now dream of spending our "golden years" there. I didn't see any ads for "Team In Training", so if LLS needs to start up a Greater Santa Barbara Chapter, I'd be happy to volunteer for that assignment!
