Okay, I've completed a full marathon in 2005 and hiked the rim of the Grand Canyon in May of 2006, so now what? Well, its no rest for the weary...so I'm back on Team in Training's run team this summer. But I'm no fool, I'm training for a 1/2 marathon this time.

Fleet Week/Fleet of Feet??

I love working from home, but during Fleet Week I wish I still had an office in the City.....I miss hearing the roar of jet engines and watching the incredible aerial stunts of the Blue Angels. When I worked in the City, I used to take an extra long lunch with my peeps, grabbed a beer and burger from Red's Java House and sit along the Embarcaderos with a front row seat to the Blue Angels practice session.

Despite the obvious display of military might, my admiration of the pilots and hardware lie elsewhere. Its simply based upon the years of mental and physical training that these guys have to go through to fly with such precision and to control such awesome machinery. Flying at Mach 2 with 8gs would make me turn into a lovely shade of green (not the envy kind).

Speaking of mental and physical preparation, its the two week countdown to Nike! All the pre-race hoopla is getting me psyched for the big event. After last Saturday, I am to start tapering off my miles, so its 8-10 miles tomorrow. If my energy starts to lapse, I'll try to imagine the power of the jets and the astonishing speeds being flown. Its these little mental games that keep my body going when it just wants to sit down and sip a latte.
